Best Tips & Tricks for Test Day
Do your best on the day of the test.
No matter what test you're planning to take, there is no doubt that test day is a stressful one. With a multitude of factors involved in getting your goal score, the pressure couldn't possibly be higher than on the day of. Here are some of our best trips and tricks to make that day a little easier for you.
1) Our thirty day preparation method specifically works because it ensures that you have enough time to be able to digest the information you need to perform well on your exam. So sit back, relax, and take it easy the night before the test! Rather than spending an extra amount of time on cramming last minute notes the night before the test, spend your time letting your mind relax and feel well rested for the morning of your exam. Researchers from Oxford have studied that the best performers on standardized exams are often those who spend less than thirty five minutes of preparation within twenty four hours of test day. In more simple terms, that means don't worry about the test after your month of continuous, dedicated preparation!
2) To feel confident on the morning of the test, you need your mind to be well rested, but also aware. This means getting a full eight hours of sleep the night before the exam, and it also means waking up early enough to have at least three hours before the exam begins. If your test time is 9am, try your very best to be awake at 6am, so that your mind has time to be able to gain optimal awareness before the test begins. To facilitate this, try to do a brain teaser or two in the morning. Similar to doing warm-ups before an athletic activity of any sort, it is important to warm up your brain before a test. After all, the brain may not be a muscle, but it does require just as much preparation.
3) Have a checklist ready for test day. We make sure that we give you one of these during your course, but make sure that you have it handy on test day. Between a calculator (if relevant), protein bars, a water bottle, pencils/highlighters/pens, and any other relevant materials, you will be more than able to perform well on the exam. Just ensure that you feel prepared enough the morning of without having to search for these items. We recommend having a "test day box" that contains all of these and is prepped the night before so that you are ready to go the morning of the exam.
In essence, testing is as simple as the above. You've spent thirty days preparing for the exam. Last minute stress helps no one, and definitely is nobody's friend on the morning of a test. Spend your time preparing before, both physically and mentally, and you'll be confident for the test itself! As you work through the exam on the day of, as well, ensure that you keep up your rhythm and confidence. Best of luck!
